March15 NewsBite

Welcome Centurions to your new look and managed Centurion Monthly News bite. At the Jan 15 AGM I found myself re-elected as Centurion Newsletter Editor. This was not a position I was seeking but here I am. Some of you will recall that I edited the Newsletter for several years prior to Lou Satterthwaites 7 year tenure so coming back to it I wanted to do something different. But before I talk more about that firstly a massive thanks and well done to Lou for running the Newsletter for all those years, an achievement I am sure you will agree.

Neil Wilkes

Centurion Championship

Here is your latest club championships update, following last weekend's Two Castles 10K.

The main bits to ponder over:

  • Jeanette Robathan manages to stay ahead of the rest, but Theresa Woolley is now in touching distance in second place
  • In third and hot on the heels of the leading duo is Andy Burnett
  • Clare Colquhoun finds herself in a bit of space in fourth
  • Continuing her recent ascendency is Louise Kemp, who moves up one place to complete the top five
  • There are two other impressive climbers, with Denise Fitzgerald (up to 7th) and Sheena Lewis (up to 11th) both moving up three places
  • Sarah Green kicks off her season, making her debut in 18th place
  • The castles of Warwick and Kenilworth appear to have attracted quite a few new members to competitive running, with three ladies making their club debut: Kim Archer-Clarke (19th), Melissa Carter (20th) and Mandy Bonfield (21st)
  • Theresa Woolley continues to lead the way in the WRRL table, with Jeanette Robathan (2nd) and Andy Burnett (3rd) completing the top three

  • It's as you were for the top five (actually, there's no change in the top nine places)
  • Paul Davies continues his dominance at the top
  • Ed Wallace remains in second, but he's being put under pressure by Eric Robathan, sitting just behind him in third
  • Thomas Healy (4th) and Andy Rea (5th) complete the top five
  • We have two hugh climbers, with Ian Cooper (up to 23rd) and John Savin (up to 24th) jumping six very impressive places
  • Other very notable climbers include Paul Cooper (up 4 to 17th) and Paul Cornock (up 4 to 18th)
  • We have two new entrants, with Martin Henderson (29th) and Julian Landeau (30th) beginning their club exploits
  • It's all change in the fight for WRRL honours, with Eric Robathan now topping the table, followed by James Houghton in second and Paul Davies in third

Next Qualifying Race: Arden 9 - Sunday, 19 June

Keep on running (unlike me!),

2015 Ladies Champion:
                  Jeanette Robathan
2015 Male Champion:
                  Paul Davies

Centurion Target Zero 2014

Target Zero Photo 2014

Well done to all who took part , and the many that assisted in putting on the Annual Target Zero Club event .

40 runners took part in this year’s Target zero event
Tanya Griffiths , Colin Corden & John Twamley ran extremely close to their predicted times but James Eckloff & Bob Taylor were exactly on pace coming in as predicted  .
So after a 400m run off Bob ran 2:30 ,30 seconds off his tie breaker prediction with James running 78 seconds , only 2 seconds from his run off prediction .
So James Eckloff is target zero champion 2014  after two amazingly close paced efforts .
